Are we ready to persevere in the face of past failures?

Jun 13, 2024

Everyone encounters setbacks and failures. The key is how you respond to these challenges.

This week Ive seen a lot of posts on social media and had a couple few conversations with friends that are going through some hard times. I too have had a few weeks of inner struggles. Just a few days ago I came home for lunch and what should be a my "woossssaaaa" hour, well I walked in the door and turned into, what I like to call, my 5 year old petulant child! The pressure of all that had been going on around me and then my thoughts and expectations just came crashing down like an avalanche. What I did next was simple, sit in silence. And in that since one word came through, perseverance.

Since that moment I've been trying to figure out how do we persevere, in all the things? Trials, Forgivness, The future……

I've found some answers and would like to send you some encouragment:

James 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." Trials and failures are part of our spiritual growth. They test our faith and build perseverance, leading us to maturity and completeness in our walk with God.

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." God encourages us to be strong and courageous, reminding us that He is always with us, supporting us through difficult times.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has a hopeful plan for each of us, even when we face setbacks. Trusting in His plan helps us to stay focused on the positive future He has in store.

Philippians 3:13-14 "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Paul encourages believers to let go of past failures and focus on the future, striving toward the goal that God has set for us.

God’s word, when you are open and listening, always provides encouragement when persevering through obstacles and focusing on

the future. We can overcome our setbacks and grow stronger in our faith and relationship
