How's your ego looking?

May 30, 2024

Throughout the bible we see many with an inflated sense of self. The bible starts right off with satan who wants to be at the same level as God (Isaiah 14:13-15) and then slyly duping Eve into the same frame of mind (Genesis 3:4-6). And let me add this little caveat, right from the beginning, literally, satan went right for the union of man and woman. Obviously, scared to death at the prospect of the power we would have together.

And power, we do have.  It took many years to become a strong unit, and access this power we have together.  However befor we got here the common words in our daily lingo were "I", "ME" and "MY". And everyone of these words come from a self frame of mind (EGO) that leads to relationship sabotage, aka big problems!

Now how to stop identifying with these in your relationship. First, practice shifting your perspective to a stronger together mentality. Instead of seeing situations solely through the lens of "I" or "me," try to embrace a more collective viewpoint. Use "we" when addressing issues, acknowledging that you and your honey are a team facing those challenges together.

Communication plays a big role too. Express your feelings using "I" statements but frame them positively. For instance, say "I feel lonely sometimes, and I'd love for us to spend more quality time together." This way, you're sharing your emotions without placing blame, and offer a solution. This opens the door to brainstorming!

Cultivating empathy is another game-changer. Understand that your partner's experiences and feelings are as valid as your own. This helps dissolve the rigid boundaries of the ego, creating a more balanced connection.

Lastly, be open to change. Life is a journey thru the mountains and valleys, and clinging too tightly to a fixed identity can hinder growth. Embrace the fluidity of life, allow room for both personal and shared growth.
